LionsPride’s Sustainability
LionsPride is proud to be the first local sustainable Moving, Delivery & Storage company in the Northwest. By saying that we hope we are not the last. Our goal is to spearhead our industries way into this new frontier. Our commitment to sustainability and earth-friendly services is proven by our business practices and our work with local agencies to continue research and implementation of new procedures and technology.
Agencies and non profits such as Cascade Sierra Solutions, the Portland Sustainable Business Network, the EPA & Local First have helped us tremendously along the way. As have companies such as FMI, Donaldson Filtration Systems, Solid Core & the ReDirect Guide.
Everyday and on almost every job we find new contacts and people who have interesting ideas & practices that they implement in their daily lives at home and/or at their place of business. It is these experiences that push us forward and inspire us to continue on our journey to be as local minded and earth conscious as possible while never loosing our professional touch or quality of service.
- At LionsPride we strive to do more. We not only use Bio Diesel in our trucks but we use a carbon offsetting program called TerraPass to create a carbon balanced business. We offset any rental trucks we may need, our employees’ commutes, our warehouse as well as our current truck’s operations.
- On our main truck we have a retrofitted Donaldson DPF emission reducing filter on our exhaust. The Donaldson filter is a recent retrofit possible through federal grants and the help of Cascade Sierra Solutions. The new filter reduces our carbon emissions by over 85%. As well as a full offsetting of remaining emissions.
- We are members of the Sustainable Business network of Portland and a part of Local First, a program initiated by The SBNP to encourage businesses to buy local to keep funds in our local economy.
- Our office and warehouse are sustainable. We strive to only buy Energy Star approved, recycled or recyclable products, and we buy as much as possible locally as per our Purchasing Policy. We also recycle and reuse all of our office and warehouse waste. This includes but is not limited to Styrofoam and food.
- The utilities provided by NW Natural and Pacific Power are sustainable also; LionsPride chooses to use only renewable energy options for our building. The power provided by Pacific Power is 100% wind power through the Blue Sky Program and the natural gas usage is offset using NW Natural’s Smart Energy program.
- We recycle or repack all materials we can, this includes Styrofoam.
The future is exciting and what we do today will be outdated before we know it, but that is the cost of progress. One we are more than willing to pay for our children and our children’s children!
